Solder On, Repair Community!

In the cell phone repair industry, micro soldering is an important skill to have. With devices shrinking in size, certain repairs have become more advanced as more components are soldered to the logic board. This hasn’t stopped repair shop technicians from diving in and perfecting these repair skills. Many of these techniques can be learned at a cell phone repair training school, on YouTube, or by attending professional training courses taught by the experts at BEST Soldering school.

New Parts for ChromeBook

Over the past 3 years, ChromeBook laptops have become a popular educational tool utilized by schools nationwide. Its durability and affordability make it perfect for schools teaching small children and young teens. Though Chromebooks can withstand a fairly significant amount of damage when compared to other leading laptops, the device is far from unbreakable. Cracked screens and broken hinges can happen anytime – so when it happens at a school near you, you can be the first shop to offer a solution with the tools and parts for ChromeBook repair from eTech Parts.

We now offer repair parts for the Samsung ChromeBook XE303, the Lenovo ChromeBook X131e, and the new 11-inch Dell ChromeBook 11. These are the most popular non-Apple laptops for students in the US; now you have a reliable source to find the parts and tools to fix them! Whether you own a small business repair shop and want to offer ChromeBook repairs to your local schools – or you work at a school and repair the tech yourself – these OEM-equivalent repair parts are the perfect fit.

Parts for Samsung ChromeBook XE303

The Samsung ChromeBook Series 3 (Model XE303C12) was released in 2012 and received excellent reviews for being a simple, easy-to-use laptop designed as “a cheap, portable way to get online, with nothing getting in the way.”

This laptop was designed to be durable, but as with most laptops and electronics, its LCD is the most commonly replaced part. You can find the replacement LCD for Samsung ChromeBook XE303 on our website, along with the tools you need to fix it – a heatgun, a simple #0 Phillips screwdriver and a pry tool like the iSesamo should do the trick. If the screen bezel gets damaged during repair, we have the LCD screen bezel to replace it.

If you need housing units, batteries, keyboards, AC adapters or LCD cables we have what you need! Find quality compatible replacement parts for Samsung ChromeBook XE303 on

Parts for Lenovo ChromeBook X131e

The Lenovo ThinkPad Chromebook X131e was released in 2012 as a rugged laptop built to withstand the everyday school adventures, busy work schedules and on-the-go travels of today’s modern life.

This laptop was also designed with durability in mind, but luckily the LCD screen is easy to find – you can use the same one as the Samsung ChromeBook XE303. We have the screen bezel compatible with the Lenovo Thinkpad, as well as the replacement keyboard, housing units, 20V AC charger and more.

You’ll need the same tools to fix the LCD on this laptop – a #0 Philips screwdriver, heating element and pry tool. If the iSesamo doesn’t do the trick, check out our favorite pry tool for iPads. This 1″ putty knife can really come in handy when replacing LCDs. Find high-quality compatible parts for Lenovo ChromeBook X131e on our website.

Parts for Dell ChromeBook 11

The 11-inch Dell ChromeBook 11 was released in February 2015 as a great option for students (and lab students in particular) who need an ultraportable, weatherproof, easy-to-use laptop . The reviews of the 2015 Dell ChromeBook 11 have been phenomenal so far, with some critics believing this Dell could easily become the top performing laptop of its kind.

Find quality repair parts for Dell ChromeBook 11 at eTech Parts.

Considering the Dell ChromeBook’s rugged design and recent release, repairs might not start rolling in for a few more months. Prepare your shop and get ahead of the game by reaching out to schools near you to see what devices they’re using to teach students. PS4 and Xbox One Lasers Now in Stock!

We learned from our most recent Repair Community survey that 36% of wireless repair shops offer repairs on game system consoles like the XBOX and PlayStation. The most common repair required for these consoles is a fairly simple laser replacement, and eTech Parts is now a proud supplier of lasers for the PS4 and Xbox One!

Looking for an easy up-sell?

According to our most recent Repair Community survey, 43% of repair shops across the US offer accessories to their repair customers. Of those respondents, 33% stated their top-selling accessories are screen protectors, second only to protective cases (38% of respondents).

Repair shop owners have an excellent opportunity for up-selling cases and screen protectors following a wireless repair. You saved the day by fixing their phone, and now you can help them prevent it from happening again.

While cases can be a cumbersome addition to a retail or home office space, screen protectors take up very little room and are an easy up-sell for a client who just shattered their phone screen.

At eTech Parts we now have a variety of affordable iPhone 6 screen protectors and iPhone 6 Plus screen protectors. Whether you want the best quality screen protectors on the market, or a more affordable option, we have what you’re looking for!

Spigen GLAS.tR

Though we’ll never know for sure, we like to think Spigen started the trend of tempered glass screen protectors. Thanks to the aesthetically-pleasing retail packaging and premium quality products, Spigen GLAS.tR tempered glass screen protectors are the most retail-friendly option for repair shops. Spigen GLAS.tR is the only screen protector with a perfectly rounded edge to prevent the glass from chipping. Currently only available for the iPhone 6, with the iPhone 6 Plus GLAS.t currently in production.

Tempered Glass Screen Protectors

If you’re looking for comparable quality with basic retail packaging, but need a product with better margins for your bottom line, the line of Crystal Armor Tempered Glass (CAT-G) is the perfect solution for your repair shop. These retail-packaged screen protectors are a great mid-range product for repair shops that don’t want to compromise quality for affordability. Privacy glass screen protectors are available as well.

Rhino Shield Screen Protectors

Rhino Shield Impact Resistant Screen Protectors are a complete mystery, and yet they’ve become one of the best-selling screen protectors on the market today. These screen protectors are comprised of 6 layers of treated plastic to absorb shock and unlike tempered glass, they won’t shatter upon impact. eTech Parts has Rhino Shield Screen Protectors available for iPhones, iPads and Galaxy devices, too. Rhino Shields are a great option whether you’re short on space or prefer to showcase accessories in a retail location.

ScrewMats for iPhone 6/6+ Now in Stock!

eTech Parts is a proud advocate of the ScrewMat.. Whether you’re a technician who’s always on-the-go, you’re new to repair, or you’re training a new technician, these magnetic project mats can really come in handy. This helpful magnetic mat is typically the first device-specific repair tool to follow the release of a new device, so whenever a new iPhone is released we know it won’t be long until we see its ScrewMat!

We all know the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are larger than previous iPhone models, and if you’ve seen the iFixit teardowns you know the internal design has changed significantly, too. But what about the ScrewMats? When we got the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus ScrewMat in, we noticed they looked a little different than their ancestors, so we decided to do a comparison of our very own to show the differences side-by-side.

EDIT - Screwmat1

These new ScrewMats for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are designed quite a bit differently than previous ScrewMats we’ve seen.

For starters, the new ScrewMats feature arrows showing the location and correct orientation of all small parts and shields. This is different from previous ScrewMats, which simply show the small parts and shields without showing where the parts are located within the device. We consider this an improvement to the overall design and function of the ScrewMat.

Another design improvement is the list of instructions on the right-hand side of the mat. Previous ScrewMats didn’t include much instruction for disassembly, other than brief instructions on replacing the LCD assembly.

The new iPhone 6 ScrewMat features more in-depth instructions on which screws to remove for replacing the LCD (a whopping 16 screws for the iPhone 6 and 17 screws for the iPhone 6 Plus), which screws to remove for complete disassembly, and it even shows the location of each flex cable and antenna connector you need to unplug per repair. Basically, the new ScrewMat design offers more user-friendly information and instruction for repairing these devices.

You can find the iPhone 6 ScrewMat and iPhone 6 Plus ScrewMat on our website. The ScrewMat is available for every generation iPhone, the most recent generations of the iPad, iPod Touch 4 and 5, Samsung devices and some Motorola devices. These magnetic mats can help technicians at any level — whether you’re a total beginner or consider yourself an expert, you never know when a ScrewMat will come in handy. These are especially helpful in training new technicians on the proper execution of iPhone repair, so that no screws or shields go misplaced (or worse, not replaced at all).

And I can tell you from personal experience, if your job ever requires you to repair an iPhone on stage in front of a large group of repair experts ready to critique your every turn of a screwdriver….definitely use a ScrewMat.

Parts for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus Arriving Daily

eTech Parts is pleased to announce the arrival of some very big repair parts to our warehouse! Replacement LCD assemblies and small parts for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are arriving daily, with many more on the way or shipping soon. With National Day (Chinese holiday) wrapping up on Tuesday, in the next couple weeks we should see a lot more shipments of parts for iPhone 6 and parts for iPhone 6 Plus. We even have RhinoShield screen protectors for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, as well as Prodigee and Spigen cases with more options arriving daily.

You can find parts for iPhone 6 and parts for iPhone 6 Plus on our website. Be sure to login or signup for a wholesale account to see your discounted pricing.

While you might be surprised to see some of the pricing as it is now, please keep in mind these devices have been on the market for less than a month. This isn’t surprising to the repair industry veterans out there; for those of you who are new to the industry… these prices might shock you, but we promise there’s no reason to panic.

You can thank economics and the law of supply and demand for the price of repair parts following the release of any device, as there are very few replacement parts available right off the bat. Once manufacturers have a larger stock of LCD assemblies and parts, and once aftermarket parts start flooding the market, prices will drop considerably. We usually see a significantly lower price on all parts about 6 months after the release of any device.

We’ll have lots more parts arriving daily as well as cases and accessories for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. Be sure to login or signup for an account with us to get special discounts on parts, tools and accessories from eTech Parts. We’ve already heard several of our customers and members of the Repair Community have completed iPhone 6 and 6 Plus repairs, even with the price of parts as is. There are still people out there who have more money than time, who will gladly pay $450+ to have their brand new phone repaired in a day or two, so it’s best to keep your options open. Have you repaired the brand new iPhone 6 or 6 Plus yet? Let us know in the comments below and as always, thanks for reading!
